I Have looking into a verity of music Artist looking at there music genres, there music and music videos.
I have looked Pixie Lott, her music is 'Teen Pop.' In her music video "Boys and Girls" she is seen being happy and having fun. This is shown to the audience because of her facial exasperation but also her dance moves. this shows the audience that it would of taken a long time to make this video because of the technical aspects.
I have looked at Nickelback, there music is 'Rock' in there music video "How you remind me" they are seen to be playing there instruments and singing, this is a little bit of story telling. This shows the audience that there music videos are easy to make with not to many camera tricks, editing and Mise en scene.
Florence & The Machine have the genre of music that is 'Alternative' in her music video " You've got the love" she is not dancing she is just sat singing the song, she is letting the camera and editing to do all the work. one shot which stands out in this video is an Extreme close up of her hand and you can see it through smoke. This video is cleaver because it grips the audience and you want to keep watching also through lighting and mise en scene.
In Rihanna's music Video "only girl (in the world)" which is 'R&B' she is seen doing lots of dancing. this music video is mainly built up of camera shots which have then been edited to go with the beet.
storyboard
Section 1) This is the opening, telling the mass audience (Herbert Blumer 1950) what the song is called and who it is buy. The music would start to play. This would fade in and out and would be animated.
Section 2) This would be the start of a zoom shot into an extreme close up of woman's lips, it shows that there is a female and she might be a artist or a person in the story of the song.
Section 3) The school logo would fade in over the lips, this would show the audience a setting. after the lips plus logo fades out.
Section 5) The audience then sees a man putting on a cap this would indicate that it is the same person as the person who has just done his shoes up.
Section 6) Then the lips would fade over the man, which would then start singing. I chooses theses because it would show the audience within the first 30 the main character and the two artists. we wanted the audience to be influenced into carry on watching it. I wanted to uses the hypodermic syringe theory make the audience feel powerless and the have no choice to be influenced.

Mood Board
I created the mood board on what I we feeling when we where listeneing to the song for the first time. The idea of a dark sky and a light sky was in conection to how I felt the person in this song felt. the first line "Fly like a jet H to the B year i'm flyer than the rest" I think this line was saying how he whats to be like other people and he wants to make it into the music industary. By the end of the song it is like that he has found fame when he says "Ladies, you better shout my name loud" which tells me he has made it and is now sussesful.
I liked the Idea of using a regual close-up shot which would be repeted over and other again. I was think ouf how we could do this. maybe do a close-up of his hand justures or his walk. then we though about if it was not him and remembered that there is a femaile artits in the song so we looked at this and then through of the Rocky Horror show when starts of with bright red lips which may work in are music video.
Another aspect which I wanted to show was where we are. At this moment we are still at school and I felt we could represent are school in some way.
Another area we wanted to show was the social class of students of today, we where looking at the sterotypes and think about what we could represt for example, Chavs, Gypessys, Geeks just a few we could mention. then we looked at the media of the last few years and saw that the ladish/ Chav culture was being reported for that bad, so we wanted to show a different aspect of this soical group.
I liked the idea of showing a journey from one place to another in are music video, this is why the road has been put onto my mood board. I liked the idea that this person had a main road with other little roads coming off it and that he choose to do right from wrong making his way to fame.
However, throught the video I did not want them to loose sight of what it really is a Music video and have some music conertations, for example, singing the song, having a Micorphone, being in the studio just a few conotations we could include.
Amateur vs Professional
Britney Spears is Became an international pop culture icon immediately after launching her record cereer. She is seen to be one of the most controversial but successful female artists and is compared to Madonna anf Janet Jackson. Glee is seen as professional show but makes music video which are meant to be seen as armatures. In series 2 episode 2 ‘Britney/ Brittany’ this episode is dedicated to Britney spears. In their music baby baby, they uses the same camera angles but they have made it look amsteur due to mise en scene, the costume is not as good as the real video. What Glee have done in modernised this music video because it was made in 1999 and this episode is made in 2011 they have put new mise en scene in to replace old mise en scene, for example, having modern cars. The costume has been kept the same starting with the school uniform then going onto the sport cloths.
One thing about this video that both have got is that they both have Britney Spears in however playing different characters. In her video she stars and in the Glee video she is acting the video.

The Mercury music prize is one of the most important music awards but is has a habit of causing a stir. The Mercury Music Prize has been going since 1997. It is mainly know for it's judging for picking artists that might not sell loads of records, but who they think are original.

The winner was announced as The XX.
The 'XX' was released last August and entered the top 10 in July. In winning the Mercury Music Prize usually means a big boost to album sales. Dizzee Rascal won the award back in 2003 and has gone on to big success, however, last year's winner Rapper Speech Debelle, hasn't hit the big time. Even here album did not make the top 40.
